Musique d’art pour quintette à cordes [Art Music for String Quintet] transposes Pythagoras’s vibrating string in a contemporary space-time. The sounds of five instruments, from violin to contrabass, are amplified and spatialized by an array of loudspeakers. The invisible architecture of the number is revealed by how the musicians are aligned on stage. The audience surrounds the musicians , on the same level. Each audience member has a unique sonic perspective, and they all participate to an unusual experience in sound immersion.
